A day for Alexandra and her little sun

The pitter-patter of small feet woke Alex from here sleep but she didn’t open her eyes knowing what was coming, with a small smile she felt a dip in her bed a few moments before little hands began to press on her shoulder,” mommy time to get the sun is shining.”

Opening her eyes Alex looked at her three-year-old son who rose with the sun ironic seeing as she named him Elio. Making a exaggerated groan she rolled on top of Elio pinning him to the bed,” I don't wanna the bed is warm, the house is cold and I have my little sun right here.” giggling Elio protest to staying the bed as there are many things they could do today while he tried to climb from under her.

Alex listened to her son protest with one ear laughing inside how most of his idea on how to spend the day hadn’t to do with the snow outside or one of the dozens of baked goods in the kitchen out of Elio's reach of course or he would stuff his face like it was his final meal.

Enter the kitchen Alex placed Elio into one of the table chairs, before getting to work in making breakfast. It didn’t take thirty minutes for her to set a plate of baby animal-shaped pancakes and eggs in front of her son, sitting down with her own plate of the older varieties of Elio's animal pancakes and a larger serving of eggs. After adding a slight amount of honey to her fluffy meal Alex passed the bottle to her son who poured a generous amount on his,’ that’s still a bit much but an improvement from when he poured an entire bottle into his plate” Alex shivered remembering the sugar rush he had afterwords. While they ate the two played with their animal-shaped food to Elio's great enjoyment.

When the plates were empty Alex placed them in the sink to be cleaned later after she cleans her child who was already making his way to the game room with honey covered hands,” oh no you don’t.” Elio screeched before making a break down the halls his mother quickly caught him and brought him to the sink to clean the honey off his hands and mouth before releasing him,” there now you can go play.” Elio wasted no time going into the game room when she heard the curtain to the game move Alex turned on the faucet and began to scrub the dishes.

Placing the dishes in the drying rack Alex dash back into her room to change out of her pajamas into equally comfortable day clothes than into her office to quickly check her email,” okay one new job and a pretty simple one too.” grabbing her art pad Alex prepared to fulfill the job she received from the freelancer website. The next hour and a half were peaceful as Alex drew with the sound of her son playing down the hall, but eventually, Elio grew bored of playing alone and wanted to watch cartoons so he came to his mother for the game room t.v. remote. Reaching into her desk she pulled the remote out.” you know the rules,” she said as she handed him the remote Elio nodded as he hopped out of the office. Smiling Alex got back to work and groaned when she realized what stage she was at,’ line art one of the circles of hell for an artist.’

It was a little before 2pm that she saved her work and left her office as one her hand was cramping too much and it was time to make lunch. Turning on the oven the mid-twenties female reached into the freezer to grab a bag of frozen fish and mozzarella sticks. Arranging the finger food on a cookie sheet she waited until the oven beeps until placing them in. setting the oven timer she went to the Gameroom and pulled Elio away from the talking rabbit superhero cartoon he was watching. Going to the bathroom they washed up before Elio took a seat at the table and Alex prepare a set of plates for when the sticks came out of the oven.

While they waited for the food Alex listened as her son talked about what he watched on tv today and how he played today switching between the topics at the drop of a hat only stopping to take a breath or when he didn’t know the word to use. He continued to talk while they ate but not when there was food in his mouth or his mother would scold him. When the food had been relocated to their stomachs Alex placed the dishes in the sink again while Elio tried to sneak Away to the game room, Catching him Allex carry him to a sink and helped him wash his hands.

Alex returned to her office after washing the dishes and Elio went back to the game room. she spent another couple of hours working on the drawing before she had to stop so she could put her child down for his afternoon nap, waking him up to his room she asked him what book he wanted to read. He requested the book the rabbit superhero cartoon was based on, Grabbing it from the bookshelf at the end of Elio's bed she took a seat on the edge of the bed. They read together until Elio fell asleep, tucking him in Alex sneaked out of the room and returned to her office to finish her work.

Submitting the artwork to her customer Alex opened her social media and news app, she spent the next while surfing through them until Elio woke up from his nap for his afternoon snack which he chooses to be a slice of cake. After a snack and catching Elio to wash his hands again the two went to the game room and watched cartoons a little before learning an hour started. An hour where Elio learned one thing of his choice today he wanted to learn about why it snowed, so Alex found a video about the snowmaking process of nature and put it on while she prepared to answer the questions he would without a doubt ask afterwords. She was right Elio asked questions something she encouraged mostly about words he didn’t know. When learning hour was over Elio dug into his toy chest and pulled out a dozen action figures handing some to his mother he started to act out some kind of story.

They played a long time until it was time for dinner that Alex prepared who Elio cleaned up the game room. They shared a meal of stir fry before getting ready for bed bathing and putting on pajamas well Alex did Elios put on a different pair of pajamas. They read move of the book from earlier until Elio's fell asleep for the night tucking him for the last time tonight Alex returned to her own bed and grabbed a book hidden in her dresser not suited for a child's eyes. She read the book for a good thirty minutes before putting it away and climbing under her covers and closing her eyes for the night.
